things to do
We are always on the look out for fun, interactive things we can do with the kids for those rainy days in the city. Moving mom Peri took her 1 year old son to The Museum of Ice Cream (moic) in San Francisco. moic is a fun, interactive museum experience where you can snack on ice cream and play in ball pools full of sprinkles ‘til your heart’s content. Peri shares all you need to know to make this a fun day out for the family.
What you need to know: Tickets are $38 and children under 2 go free (purchase tickets in advance online - This museum sells out fast).
where ~ moic - 1 grant avenue, san francisco, ca 94108
carrier over stroller ~ We would recommend taking your little one in a carrier and avoid taking the stroller. MOIC does offer some storage for strollers and car seats, but it is extremely limited. Plus the museum isn’t all that big so navigating the space with a stroller is a little tricky.
the tour ~ the full tour is 40—45mins with the longest wait time right at the beginning (you have to line up for the sprinkles pool entry).
what about ice cream? ~ You do get to eat ice cream! from mochi, to ice lollies to pink hot chocolates and finally ending with some smitten ice cream (if you know, you know!)
who is it good foR? ~ this is a great experience for all ages from children to adults. Because of the interactive nature of the museum, we feel from 1 years of age and up is best.
get camera ready ~ The moic is an instagrammer’s paradise. Make sure you have your camera and your selfie pose ready or even better, have a willing friend or partner to help take cute pics of you and your little one.
Mama tip ~ You do have to queue up for the sprinkles pool, which can be frustrating with little ones. But we found the lines go down pretty quickly and the staff are super friendly and help keep the kids entertained.
